Dated Globe

The globe haunts
a room corner Brazil
casts a blue eye
to the sofa,
The Indian sea laps
against the wall, spits
salt,
overcast And the Islands
of the Pacific
witness their first snow,
the window
That is soviet Russia.
soviet Poland.
I know it is useless,
Portugal begs from
the space of
a shadow,
Knows there is snow slanting
such ennui by the wall’s crease.
